Easthams staff organise food bank donation

We have been blown away by the response from our team

Our colleagues Amy Sawkill and Robert Eyre have co-ordinated a collection of food and toiletries to donate to Blackpool Foodbank.

The response from our team has blown us away as so many gave generously to help support our local foodbank. Our donation of 220kg of food plus 25kg of non-food items equates to 523 meals.

Blackpool Foodbank supplies food to organisations across the Fylde Coast who in turn help those most in need in our community. They are currently providing 12,000 meals each week.

We are living in a time of rising costs across everything we buy which sadly means that the use of food banks is increasing. The BBC yesterday reported that there are now more than 3,000 food banks across the UK.

Here, Blackpool Food Bank has seen demand for their help rise by 48% this year, and it only expected to get worse after October when energy prices rise again.

Media reports tell us that donations to food banks are dropping because people are finding it harder and harder to afford to be able to donate. This is why we are so proud of the collection we have delivered today and hope to replicate soon.

If you would like to donate to Blackpool Food Bank, please get in touch with them via e-mail on info@blackpoolfoodbank.co.uk.
