Christmas tree collection raises £27,500 for local hospice
The annual Christmas tree collection carried out by volunteers for Blackpool based Trinity Hospice has again seen another record breaking year.
The collection, which is sponsored by Easthams Solicitors, saw a team of volunteers spend their January weekends collecting trees from across the Fylde coast. This year the team collected a staggering 2,151 trees and more importantly the donations provided by the community raised £27,500 for Trinity Hospice.
Some of the collected trees will be replanted in St Annes, as part of an ongoing project to restore the sand dunes, others were chipped and will be put to a variety of uses.
Our thanks go to the team at Trinity Hospice for organising the event and especially to the 116 volunteers who braved strong winds to collect the trees.
